DIARY NEWS

If you thought August would be quiet on the diary side of things, then you’d be mistaken as there’s another bunch of new events for you to get out and support.

All change…

  • The Loose Moose String Band no longer run their sessions at the Hilbre Court Hotel in Wirral. Instead they’ve taken up residence in The Cally – that’s The Caledonia on Catharine Street – every other Sunday (or thereabouts). Check out the diary for more details.

You say goodbye…

  • The open mic at Osqa’s Piano Bar isn’t happing at the moment, but we’ll let you know if it restarts.
And I say hello…
  • Cellar Bar Folk is a new event from local performer Anthony John Clarke. It takes place (normally) on the first Wednesday of every month at The Vernon Arms on Dale Street between 8pm and 11pm, and is free entry. The first half is open mic, and the second half is a ‘big spot’ featuring a different performer each month. For more information visit the facebook page and website.
  • Bumper Acoustic is a new weekly open mic at Bumper on Hardman Street. It takes place every Wednesday from 8pm to midnight and is hosted by Tom George. It’s free to get in and we’re told they’ve got a £2 pint offer. Tom says he’s looking forward to people coming along with original material or covers, and that there will be opportunities for collaboration too.
  • Talk to Frank (or T2F to their friends) have a brand new free, weekly acoustic evening every Thursday from 8pm to midnight at Mo’nique’s on Temple Court (opposite Revolution at Victoria Street). If you’d like to play drop Frank an email talktofrank2011@hotmail.co.uk
  • The Jackdaws have a weekly residency every Saturday from 7pm to 9pm at The Lady of Mann pub, behind Rigbys. It’s free, and you’re all welcome.
  • There’s a new open mic at Vanilla Lounge in Hoylake on the last Monday of the month. It’s from 8pm to 11pm and free entry. We’re told there are mics and DIs aplenty, and all genres are welcome.

AND FINALLY…

Thanks go out to the new Review Team who’ve been getting their scribble sticks stuck into music releases and live reviews. If you’re a local acoustic artist and you’d like your music to be reviewed then get in touch using the Contact Us form. Also, if you run an event that you’d like reviewing, or regularly attend an event as a punter that you think deserves some extra publicity, then let us know. We can’t promise to cover everything, but we’ll do our best.

Graham,
on behalf of the Liverpool Acoustic Team
