Two new Sunday residencies

Here at Liverpool Acoustic we thought we’d share with you a Christmas gift…

And to be seasonally apt our gift to you is news of two more acoustic events for the Liverpool Acoustic Diary – both of which are new residencies for Sundays.

Nouveau Django have a regular gig every Sunday afternoon in one of our favourite venues – The Mocha Lounge, on Sir Thomas Street.

The event is free and runs from 1.30pm to around about 3.30pm for the foreseeable future.

For those of you who don’t know, Nouveau Django are Micky Dunne on guitar, Hayden John on violin, and George Maher on guitar. These three play a distinctive brand of highly infectious gypsy jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli. ‘Tis a terriffic, toe-tapping treat for any Sunday afternoon!

Karl Lund does a 60 to 90 minutes set upstairs in Hannahs Bar, Hardman Street every Sunday from 11pm after the stand-up comedy club.

Karl performs acoustic covers with a twist, jazzy versions of Jackson 5’s ‘I Want You Back’, a male’s take on Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’, transforming Tori Amos’s haunting piano based songs to uplifting guitar numbers, and maybe there’ll be room for some original material too!

From Sunday 21st December and every Sunday thereafter, Karl will often be performing with guest musicans such as Michael Smith on the cello. There’s a nice relaxed atmosphere where all are welcome.
